The Extreme Ultraviolet Corona

A SOHO/EIT image of the corona in extreme ultraviolet at a temperature of 1-2 million degrees. The large loops arch over magnetic active regions. The extreme ultraviolet image enables us to see tight, loop-like magnetic fields that extend above the Sun's surface around which charged particles are spinning.
